Today is the deadline for the Austin Music Poll. My friend Kay sent out the following appeal to her friends to vote. She is a big fan of The Band of Heathens and so is pushing them. However, the sentiments expressed reflect the appreciation that our great city has for our musicians. Folks who live in Austin, Texas are the luckiest group of people in the world to have the amazing talent we have playing any night of the week down the street. Besides her recommendations, check out:
Guy Forsyth
Wendy Colonna
Patrice Pike
Eliza Gilkyson
Marcia Ball
John D. Graham
but to name a few.
Listen to their music and then come visit the Live Music Capitol of the World!

Hello All,
The Chronicle Music Poll’s deadline is NOW! If you haven’t voted, you must! Music shapes Austin and is one of our major economic
contributors to our fabulous city. I
can’t imagine Austin without music and it’s why
many people move to Austin
each year. There is a reason why we have
been blessed with the title “Music Capitol of the World”! This is quite an honor and all Austinites
should participate in what makes us special.
Music embodies humane emotion which transcends with us over time. Fortunately for us we can go out on any given
night in Austin
and let the music move us in ways we can always remember. Sometimes I feel, as citizens of this great
city we take the musicians, club owners, and all the folks who work tirelessly
to bring us awesome entertainment for granted.
They deserve recognition!
Remember they have to pay rent like the rest of us, have families to
feed, health insurance cost, and they have to keep up with the cost of
living. Guitar strings can get
expensive, and while some of us receive raises at the end of the year, the
musicians’ salaries have stayed the same!

Most folks in Travis County are avid voters. Please use your influence to
vote in Chronicle Music Poll and show your support in what makes Austin possible for our
existence. Fortunately we do not have to
show ID when voting so all of us can cast a ballot now and painlessly. You can vote from over seas, so all you
Euro's get your vote on! I’m sending over a “cheat sheet” and encouraging you
to vote for these artist, club owner, and producer.
Obviously my votes all go towards the Band of Heathens. They are all beautiful musicians and
individually can hold their own. They
work very hard, holding down several bands, jobs during the day, and families
to take care of. Besides they have the most incredible harmonizing I have heard
in years. Momo’s is dedicated to music,
the artist, and their patrons. Paul Oveisi, local Austinite has many passions, children’s healthcare, the environment, and Austin music. Memo’s deserves a win and Paul
always makes you feel at home when you walk in the door.
